One of the best things about staying at a high-end hotel is that the staff are highly accommodating. Unlike lower-end properties, which simply focus on providing the basics, high-end hotels are ideal because you can make a whole array of requests during your stay. If you haven't previously stayed at a high-end hotel, you might not know that you can make such requests, or you might even feel that doing so seems too demanding. The reality, however, is that the staff will happily hear your request and help to fulfill it. Here are some such requests.
Ask for the Shuttle to Take You Somewhere
If you're visiting the hotel and don't have your own method of transportation, it might be difficult to get around the city. If the hotel has a shuttle, it doesn't strictly travel between the hotel and the airport. At many nicer hotels, guests can take the shuttle to other locations. Usually, you can't turn the shuttle into your personal limo for a day of sightseeing, but you can request to be taken to a nearby shopping area or tourist destination, for example. If you're traveling on business, you can also ask to have the shuttle take you to the conference center at which you'll be meeting.
Ask for Information About the Local Area
Many hotels have a kiosk that contains pamphlets featuring local attractions and restaurants, but browsing through this ample selection can be overwhelming. Savvy hotel guests know that they can get useful advice about the local area from asking the hotel concierge or another member of the staff. Whether you're looking for a specific place to shop or you're looking for an unbiased opinion about whether a tourist attraction is worth the money, you can get this information simply by asking the right people during your hotel stay.
Ask for a Custom-Made Meal
Whether you're dining in the hotel's restaurant or ordering food from room service, you'll likely see a long list of available options. However, if you have a specific craving for something that doesn't appear on the menu, many high-end hotels can make that item for you. Whether it's a slightly different version of something you see on the menu or something that's entirely different, there's no harm in asking. In many cases, your server or the person taking your room service call will check with the kitchen — and then return to tell you that your meal will be made just the way you want it.
When you stay at nice hotels in your next vacation spot, don't forget to ask about these three requests.
