Where to Stay on Your First Trip to Manhattan

If you've never visited Manhattan on vacation, and you're planning an upcoming trip, then it is important to decide what area you want to look for a hotel in. The city has lots of different neighborhoods, and you will get a different experience depending upon where you want to stay. So, this article is going to help you out by going over three different neighborhoods and the different type of hotels and vibes you will find in each.

Midtown Manhattan

Midtown is a fantastic place to search for your hotel because it's located in the heart of Manhattan. This puts you at a great advantage when it comes time to see the sights. You can take the subway south to lower Manhattan and see the waterfront, the World Trade Center memorial, and South Street Seaport. Also, Midtown is located right near Times Square, which is a don't-miss spot. Plus, Broadway shows (musicals, theater, and comedies) are all within walking distance of Midtown hotels. Finally, you can easily catch a cab and get to the great museums on the Upper East Side. The hotels are going to be big. Think large, major hotels in tall buildings. Midtown doesn't have smaller boutique hotels. You will find everything from budget rooms to 4-star luxury hotels in the area.

SoHo

If you want something more relaxed, then you should look at boutique hotels located down in SoHo. SoHo means south of Houston street. This area is in lower Manhattan. The buildings have a lower profile when compared to Midtown, so if you want to find a hotel that isn't in a skyscraper or really tall building, then SoHo is the spot. The area is filled with very trendy art galleries, restaurants, and bars. If you're planning on exploring Chinatown, the art scene (galleries in Tribeca, SoHo, and the Lower East Side) then a hotel in this area would be perfect. You're going to be right in the heart of the action. There are smaller hotels from major chains, but you will also find really cool boutique hotels in the area that are upscale and very nice.

West Harlem

If you're on a bit of a budget and want to experience a less touristy area of Manhattan, then you should check out the upper west side neighborhoods of West Harlem. These neighborhoods are more residential than Midtown, so you will get a feel for the community and culture. In Harlem, you will find beautiful old Brownstone buildings and small boutique hotels. You will be close to Central Park and will haveeasy access to the subway that takes you right down to Times Square. The area is much more relaxed than Midtown, so you can relax at night at a neighborhood cafe close to your hotel without having to deal with a crush of people.

About Me

Staying Safe While Traveling

When I was younger, I always wanted to travel. By the time I was ready to graduate from high school, my dreams became a reality. After enjoying a trip abroad with my choir group, I decided to make travel a priority. I started saving all of my money to see the world, and it was a decision that really paid off. I was able to see exciting new places, talk with really kind people, and enjoy new foods. However, my adventure involved a little danger. This website is all about staying safe during travel and how an eye for detail could save your life.
